Performances: “Almost, Maine” a romantic comedy by John Cariani is the next offering on the VIC Theatre season. Performances will be March 4, 5, 6 at 7:30 pm and March 7 at 2:30 pm in Trayer Theatre in the Anne Worrell Fine Arts Center on campus. This fresh contemporary piece has been tagged as a fable about “love in the time of frostbite” by the New York Sun, and rightly so. On a frosty winter night in upper New England, when the beautiful and mystical northern lights dance in the sky, extraordinary forces are at work. Love - that vital element of human existence that we continue to pursue despite its befuddling quirkiness - plays the central role. The residents of the mythical town of Almost explore and sometimes uncover its mysteries in magical and surprising ways. Their stories will make you laugh, cry, and perhaps feel you are in familiar territory as they reveal truths about the enigma of love. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors or students. Admission is free for VIC students, faculty, staff, and Senior Program members. Contact Bonny Gable at 276-466-7973 or

Workshops: The Professional Actor - The Business of Theatre Through a series of workshops conducted by seasoned theatre professionals VIC Theatre students had the opportunity to receive first-hand information about how to market themselves in the theatre and film industry. Actor’s Equity performers, professional directors and film-makers came to our campus throughout the semester to teach the sessions. Topics covered included audition technique, agents, networking, resume and head shot preparation, budgeting - plus answers to any Who, What, When, Where questions posed by the students. Learning the ropes from practicing professionals who are presently working in the field was a valuable opportunity for students to add the necessary marketing skills to their performing skills.
